FAQ

What is What's Being Built LI?

A free Monday email that turns Town of Brookhaven (then Islip, Smithtown, Huntington) building-permit filings into plain English: what's going up near you — new homes, teardowns, renovations, commercial work, and which neighborhoods ran hot.

What towns do you cover?

Week one: Town of Brookhaven — Centereach, Holtsville, Farmingville, Coram, Medford, Selden, Port Jefferson Station, and the rest of Brookhaven. Next: Islip, Smithtown, Huntington. We do not cover Southampton or East Hampton (that's The East End Dig).

Where does the data come from?

Public town portals first (Brookhaven CIVICS Digital Services and Accela Citizen Access). Suffolk County Planning publishes monthly residential-permit stats for context. If a week's dump is incomplete, we file a FOIL request with the town. We never scrape MLS or Zillow.

Is this free?

Yes. The weekly email is free. Sponsors pay a flat monthly fee. An optional paid archive may come later.

Do you sell leads or take referral fees?

No. Sponsorships are flat-fee ads. We do not take a cut of any construction job or real-estate commission.

How much does a sponsorship cost?

Founding rate: $149/month for the first 5 sponsors. Then $249/month. One labeled sponsor block per issue. No pay-per-lead.

How is this different from The East End Dig?

Same idea, different map. They cover the Hamptons. What's Being Built LI covers mid-Suffolk where most Long Islanders live and build.

Who is this for?

Homeowners who want to know what's going up near them, contractors watching the pipeline, realtors, and local HVAC/plumbing/roofing shops.
